PREFACE
The Statistical Year Book is a biennial publication of the Central Bureau of Statistics. The present edition is the twelfth in the series. Statistical information presented in this edition are compiled from various sources including CBS publications. There are 18 chapters in this edition covering major information on social, demographic and economic situation of the nation. In each chapter, an attempt has been made to update the information, particularly the information on Chapter 7 is replaced by the data of recent Census of Manufacturing Establishments 2006/07. Likewise, national accounts in the Chapter 15 is updated and expanded with some additional tables. Besides, changes have also been made in some chapters of this edition. Considering the demand of users, attempt is made to present data for ten years. Moreover, the data of the last Population and Agricultural Censuses are continued in this edition also. We hope that the present edition would be more informative and useful for users.
I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to all the staffs of the Publication, Dissemination and Library Section of the Bureau for relentless effort in bringing out this publication in time. Specially, I would like to thank Dr. Mahesh Kumar Subedi, Director of the Publication, Dissemination and Library Section who led in the data management and also provided guidance in bringing out this edition. Mr. Bed Prasad Dhakal, Statistical Officer deserves my special thanks for his painstaking efforts to bring out this publication. I am also thankful to Computer Officer Mrs. Tshering Yalmu, Statistical Assistant Mr. Govinda Prasad Dhungana and Assistant Mr. Rameshowor Singh Thapa of the section for their sincere efforts to collect and compile the data from various sources.
