PREFACE

The Statistical Year Book is a biennial publication of the Central Bureau of Statistics. The present edition is the eleventh in order. There are 18 chapters in this edition covering major information on social, demographic and economic situation of the Nation. In each chapter, an attempt has been made to update the information. Besides, some changes have also been made in this edition. Considering demand of users, attempt is made to present data series for 10 years, but due to some limitation some data are presented for one year only. Moreover, some data from last Population and Agricultural Censuses are added in this issue also. We hope that the present edition would be more informative to the users.
I would like to express my sincere thanks to various government and non-government organizations for providing the necessary information for this issue.
Valuable comments and suggestions from the users are always welcome for further improvement of the publication in future.
